SQL full text search is a separate service that runs next to the database server. It creates a big catalogue of all keywords used within the content. This Course shows how to use SQL full text catalogs and embedded SQL to improve the search results. This Course is an extension to the `Build your own Search Engine' Course (link in recommend prerequisites).

Using the freetext function

This Course uses the Chinook search database. This database includes a full text catalogue that indexes several fields of the database. This lesson shows how to use the free text filter.

Using the freetexttable function

The results of the previous lesson didn't get sorted on relevance, they were just sorted randomly. This lesson shows how to give every result a relevance rating. This is a number, how higher the number, the more relevant the result is.

Embedded SQL using the freetexttable function

To use the relevance rating in the application embedded SQL is needed and the list needs to be filled manually. This lesson shows how to sort the data on the relevance rating.

Search multiple tables using a stored procedure

The previous lesson only searched for tracks. This lesson shows how to search for tracks, albums and artists.
